RAWALPINDI: At least four terrorists belonging to the banned Fitnaal Khawarij were killed and three injured in an intelligence-based operation in the Bagh General area of Khyber district, the army’s media wing said on Thursday.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations said the operation was carried out on Wednesday following information about the presence of terrorists.

“Kharji ring leader Batoor” was among those killed.

“A sanitisation operation is being carried out to eliminate any other foreigner found in the area, as Pakistan’s security forces are determined to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country,” the ISPR said.

Last week, on November 21-22, three terrorists were killed in two separate clashes with security forces in cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Pakistan has seen a surge in militancy since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in 2021, with the movement’s Pakistani chapter carrying out attacks mostly targeting security forces.
