RAWALPINDI: Three people, including a captain and a soldier, were martyred in an avalanche in Barzal Pass, Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation to remove snow was being supervised by Captain Asmad when an avalanche occurred during the operation at 2 am on January 3.
The ISPR said that three people, including a captain and a soldier, were martyred in the avalanche, including Captain Asmad, Sepoy Rizwan and Machine Operator Isa.
The ISPR said that 28-year-old Captain Asmad was from Lahore and Sepoy Rizwan was from Attock, while the martyred machine operator Shehri Isa was from Astore.
According to the ISPR, after strenuous efforts, the three people were pulled out from under the avalanche. Captain Asmad, Sepoy Rizwan and Machine Operator Isa were in critical condition and all three were martyred.
The ISPR said that the three men sacrificed their lives during the operation to ensure operational mobility of forces in bad weather.
