Three policemen martyred, six injured in Karak checkpost attack

KARAK: At least three police personnel were killed while six others were injured in a terrorist attack at a police checkpost in the Bahadurkhel area of Karak district.

According to the police, militants, armed with heavy weapons, opened gunfire on the checkpost during the early hours of Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as Taimur, Hayat, Naqeeb, and Adnan. The injured cops were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Karak.

However, three of the wounded have then been shifted to Peshawar due to being in critical condition.

The funeral prayer for the martyred policemen will be held at 10 am at Karak Police Lines.

District Police Officer (DPO) Karak said the assailants fled the scene after police retaliated. A heavy police contingent immediately arrived at the site and a search operation was initiated to apprehend the perpetrators.
