Transgender killed in cold blood

A transgender named Aftab aka Maya khan was shot dead in Nowshera by an unknown assailant that fled the scene after the crime.

The dead body was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem. Doctors informed that the victim was shot at a close range.

According to Civil Society Coordinator, the victim was handed over to the family by Hashtnagri police station a month ago however, she fled from her home and was again handed over to her family on the past sunday and she again ran away.

After a few hours, she was caught dead in cold blood.

According to a report in a local media outlet, police suspect her father, who was upset at her for choosing to live as a transgender person, was behind the crime.

Meanwhile, the transgender community in Peshawar gathered outside the Hashtnaghri Police Station and staged a demonstration.

The assailant remains at large.
