Two suspects involved in brothers’ murder in Raiwind killed in CCD ‘encounter’

LAHORE: Lahore police on Thursday said that the two men arrested for the brutal murder of two brothers for Rs30 in the Raiwind area of ​​Lahore were killed in an alleged “police encounter” with the Crimes Control Department (CCD).

The Punjab Police official said that the CCD Chung team took the arrested suspects, Owais and Shahzad, to Raiwind for a raid on their identification, during which the accomplices of the accused tried to free them.

During the operation, their associates, led by a man named Tauqir, attacked the police in an attempt to free them; however, the firing resulted in the death of both the arrested accused.

The accused Tauqir escaped along with his accomplices, police said. Chung CCD launched a search operation for those who opened fire at the police team.

A few days ago, a clip went viral on social media showing some fruit vendors beating two persons with sticks and bats. One of the victims succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital, whereas the other died in the hospital the next day.

Later, police investigation revealed that the deceased were brothers, Wajid and Rashid, and beaten to death over a dispute of Rs30 while buying fruits.

Yesterday, a special team of Lahore Police led by SHO Raiwind Muhammad Zaka arrested the accused Shahzad. The police team claimed to have arrested the accused by using available resources, including modern technology.
