ISLAMABAD: The UAE‘s Consul General in Karachi has said on Monday that there were no visa restrictions on Pakistanis and that the Emirates was offering “100 percent” facilities to citizens of the South Asian country traveling for tourism, business, medical, or other purposes.
As per the details, Ambassador Bakhit Atiq al-Rimaithi’s comments came after widespread local media reports of a decline in overseas employment opportunities for Pakistanis, allegedly due to issues related to respect for local laws and customs.
During a briefing of the Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis last week, Dr Arshad Mehmood, Secretary of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, widely cited the fact that 50% of the crime rate in the UAE is allegedly attributable to Pakistanis. Is.
Over 50 percent of the more than 10 million overseas Pakistanis live in middle east countries, with Saudi Arabia and the UAE being the top destinations for Pakistani laborers for decades. These countries are also the largest and second-largest sources of remittances to Pakistan, respectively.
“We are here to provide services,” Remithy said in a video released by local media, adding that the consulate arranged for journalists to visit the UAE visa centre in Karachi.
“We fully explain the visa process to our Pakistani brothers and sisters, provide them with full facilities. There are no restrictions.”
However, the Consul General noted that the UAE has procedures in place to verify that people are traveling for stated purposes, such as tourism, business or health: “We fully cooperate and Let’s make sure we provide full facilities.”
He also advised Pakistani workers to avoid carrying goods for others, as this could lead to the transportation of illegal goods and could result in problems at UAE airports.
“We educate people about the risks, emphasize the importance of packing their own luggage and making sure that there are no problems at airports in Karachi or the UAE,” said Remithy. Do not include any unauthorized items.”
He highlighted the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and the UAE spanning over 50 years and assured that the UAE would always support the South Asian nation.
“In a few days, we will also announce additional facilities for the business community on both sides,” he concluded.
Last week, Pakistan’s foreign office advised its citizens living abroad, especially in the Middle East, to obey local laws and respect local customs.
A Foreign Office spokesperson urged Pakistani citizens to abide by the laws of their host country, saying, “The UAE and other countries in the Middle East have specific laws regarding foreign expatriates, including political activities.” Laws included.”
Commenting on the skills of the Pakistani workforce, he noted that they have played a “positive” role in the development of the Middle Eastern countries where they have lived for decades:
“The host governments appreciate the cooperation of Pakistani citizens, particularly in the Middle East, recognizing the peaceful and law-abiding Pakistani workers based in these countries.”
