ABU DHABI: UAE likely to get 9 consecutive holidays on Eid al-Adha. The public holiday period for UAE residents will begin with Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha in May 2026.

Arafah Day, which occurs on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah in the Islamic calendar, represents one of the most sacred days in Islam, and the UAE government designates it as a public holiday.

The holiday period leads to three days of Eid Al Adha festivities. The Islamic holidays determine their actual dates through moon sighting practices.

Arafah Day will take place on Tuesday, May 26, as the date for 2026. The UAE Cabinet approved Eid Al Adha to begin on Wednesday, May 27, and end on Friday, May 29.

The residents will enjoy a six-day break because this period combines with the weekend. People who want to extend their holiday period should take one day of annual leave on Monday, May 25. The combination of this leave with the weekends before and after will result in nine continuous days away from work.

Residents need to check the official holiday schedule for their area, which will be determined according to the lunar calendar and moon sighting methods. The predictions show that Dhu Al Hijjah, which is the last month of the Islamic calendar, will start on Monday, May 18.
