KARACHI: A devastating road accident occurred in Karachi’s Saadi Town, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist identified as Tanveer. The incident happened when a water tanker collided with Tanveer’s motorcycle, killing him instantly.
The driver of the water tanker fled the scene, leaving the authorities to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Tanveer’s body was taken to a local hospital for necessary procedures.
This incident has sparked widespread outrage, with citizens setting fire to five water tankers in response to the tragedy. The fire brigade quickly responded to the situation, extinguishing the flames and preventing further damage.
Karachi has witnessed a disturbing surge in traffic accidents, with over 260 lives lost in 2025, according to the rescue service. A report by the Chhipa Welfare Association highlights the severity of the issue, stating that at least 1,493 citizens were injured in these accidents.
The Karachi commissioner has enforced Section 144 to regulate heavy traffic movement within the city amid rising fatalities. This move aims to improve road safety and reduce accidents.
Additionally, a two-month ban on One-Plus-Two and One-Plus-Four rickshaws has been imposed on major roads, including Shahrah-e-Faisal and I.I. Chundrigar Road, to streamline traffic flow and ensure safer travel for citizens.
