ISLAMABAD: Former ISI Chief Lieutenant General, Retd. Faiz Hameed remained in the headlines, and now, it is reported that the ex-spy chief will testify against former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
His counsel, Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq, firmly denies the swirling rumors as baseless and purely speculative amid rampant media speculation.
Senior Pakistani journalist Ansar Abbasi claimed that there were reports about the testimony of Faiz Hameed against Imran Khan, but he clarified, quoting a lawyer saying that Faiz has no intention whatsoever to participate in this case.
The speculation seems connected to May 9, 2023, violence, where the government narrative explains alleged connections between Imran Khan and Faiz Hameed, including attacks on military installations.
However, no official statement from the military’s media wing, ISPR, has confirmed any link between the two; thus, the claim has remained hanging in the air.
This controversy was ignited after the recent 14-year sentence of Faiz Hameed, but even now, government ministers avoid direct answers and push the matter to ISPR.
