ISLAMABAD: If your social media feed looks a little too obsessed with the current date, you’re not alone. January 1st, 2026, has suddenly gone viral thanks to a quirky calendar coincidence the users are terming “1/1/1.”

The premise is quite simple—the first month, the first day, and the first day of the year all fall on the same day, marking what has come to be known as a “calendar hat-trick.” Posting on social media sites, individuals claim that the alignment only occurred in 2017 and will again in the year 2035.

It went viral after a popular social media account posted a picture of a planner from the year 2026, with an emphasis on January 1st, and wrote “1/1/1.”

It did not take long before screenshots flooded all of X, Instagram, and Facebook. The attraction lies partially in the simplicity of it all. Though it’s merely a creative way of viewing the calendar system, it was a curious marker nonetheless.

Some users were taken aback by the term “third one” and were forced back on their heels by an explanatory riposte from another, stating “month = 1, day = 1, and the ordinal position in the year = 1.”

Of course, the internet could not resist including numerology in its observations. Fans of numerology noted that “2+0+2+6 = 10,” and “1+0 = 1,” which seemed to indicate that the year itself was also a one.

Most of the participants treated these explanations in a humorous fashion rather than seriously or factually, in effect using the “1/1/1” meme to celebrate the joy of finding little details in life in the most fun way: numbers and dates.
