ISLAMABAD: The government in Pakistan is contemplating ways to assist poor Pakistanis during times of high petrol prices. Among the various benefactor-boosting proposals under consideration by the government, cooperation with BISP for bike riders is one illuminating possibility.
The idea of a monthly sizeable amount equal to around Rs 2000 of subvention appears enticing; however, the platform’s execution is a big question mark, although it is discussed in detail with stakeholders.
Possibly, the acceptance of registration, ID card check, and transfer of the granted amount will all be portrayed in digital mode. The spike in petroleum prices announced by the federal government was met with a chorus of argument and opposition; side by side, handsome subsidies on motorcycle travel, for middle-class and lower-income groups, were proposed.
The announcement was first made to the House by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb in regard to motorcyclists who would receive 100 rupees as a subsidy per liter on the “few” 20 liters only, generating excitement among those hoping to partially alleviate mass poverty living under petrol pricing costs.
These digital means-level information on subsidy may still be delivered via SMS or an app. Those driving the motorcycles shall hence get themselves properly registered through their National Identity Card (CNIC) using the application or SMS technique, all kept aimed at from now on.
As proof, the motorist will be taken to the petrol pump, either through a screen code reading process or through some other agreed-upon means, by which the truthfulness of the bicycle rider availing the subsidy is established before the price discount kicks in.
