SHIEKHUPURA: A woman was gang-raped by a group of robbers at a sit-in set up to rob passers-by on the main Sheikhupura road in Sharaqpur.

An eyewitness told the police that 15 robbers robbed mobile phones and cash from more than 20 people over a period of three hours.

They also revealed that three robbers also gang-raped a woman after robbing her, adding that the victim returned to her house crying.

Police have launched a search operation in nearby gardens and fields to arrest the accused.

Last month, a shopkeeper in Shakargarh area allegedly raped a girl who had come to get her mobile phone repaired.

Police said the accused also made a video and extorted money from the victim for four months by threatening to share it on social media.

The victim stole 24 tolas of gold and cash from her house to stop the accused from making the video viral.

Police said a case has been registered against the shopkeeper on the complaint filed by the shopkeeper. An investigation into the matter has also been initiated.
