First victory for Lahore Qalandars in PSL 9

In Rawalpindi on Wednesday, Lahore Qalandars defeated Islamabad United by 145 runs, chasing a target of 163, to win their opening match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9.

Qalandars overcame United by 17 runs thanks to two wickets taken by captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, while Zaman Khan claimed four wickets in 3.5 overs while giving up 37 runs. Faheem Ashraf continued to be United’s top scorer with 41 runs without a wicket. With 19 deliveries, Azam Khan collected 29 points.

The current PSL edition saw Qalandars lose their first six games, while their final game was called off due to inclement weather. The reigning champions, batting first, amassed a total of 162 at a cost of seven wickets. With 44 deliveries, Rassie van der Dussen collected 64 points.

The captain of the reigning champions, Shaheen Afridi, brought thirty runs into the total. Rumman Raees claimed two wickets for United, while one wicket each was claimed by Naseem Shah, Hunain Shah, Imad Wasim, Faheem Ashraf, and Shadab Khan.
