Asim Azhar and Merub Ali get engaged: Aima Baig, Sajal Ali, Yamna Zaidi congratulate pair

ISLAMABAD: Popular singer Asim Azhar and emerging actress Merub Ali got engaged in an intimate ceremony, with only a handful of guests in attendance.

Taking to their social media handles, the celebrity pair posted identical announcements about their engagement.

“Shukar Alhamdulillah [Thank you God]. With the grace of Allah Almighty and our parent’s duas, we announce our Imam Zamin – engagement. May Allah SWT and Ahlebait keep us protected and this happy forever, Aameen. Keep us in your prayers.”

Asim Azhar also delighted fans and friends by sharing the same engagement pictures and message on Twitter.

Congratulations have begun pouring in under both their posts from their celebrity friends, including Aima Baig, Sajal Aly, Yamna Zaidi and Ayaz Samoo.

There were rumours and speculations about the couple’s relationship as some people believed they were cousins, some said they were romantically linked. Ali recently clarified that they’re great family friends and have known each other since childhood.

Merub Ali recently made her acting debut in Sinf-e-Ahan alongside renowned actors Sajal Aly, Kubra Khan, Saira Yousuf and Yamna Zaidi.
