Many fans were shocked by Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar Heeramandi’s offer after the writer talked about it openly on a recent podcast. Khalil is known for having strong opinions and writing powerful scripts. He said that someone from India once asked him to write what later became Heeramandi. The project was going to be a movie at the time, and it was called “Mandi,” not “Heeramandi.”

He said that the makers called him a lot, but at first he turned down the offer because of his own beliefs. Later, he said he would think about it only if Indian artists were treated with the same respect in Pakistan as Pakistani writers are in India. He said that local media often gives too much attention to visiting artists and that respect should be equal.

Khalil also said that he even offered to write the script for free, but only if the conditions were right. But things didn’t move forward, and he said no again, especially because of the political climate at the time. He said that the people who made the movie said they wouldn’t make it without him. Heeramandi later released it as a series, and he said he just smiled when he thought about that conversation.

His statement has started another online debate, with people talking about both his position and the missed chance.
