Historic Triumph: Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team Secures First-Ever W-ODI Victory Against New Zealand

In a historic moment for Pakistan women’s cricket, the national team scripted a remarkable victory against New Zealand in the third Women’s One-Day International (W-ODI) match, concluding the tour with three wins out of six matches. The final ODI showcased an extraordinary performance as Pakistan secured a thrilling win through a Super Over after the batters tied the match while chasing a target of 252.

Pakistan’s spin duo, Nashra Sandhu and Ghulam Fatima, played a pivotal role by taking two wickets each, with Umm-e-Hani contributing with a solitary wicket. The chase was anchored by the former captain, Bismah Maroof, who scored 68 runs off 86 balls, supported by valuable contributions from Aliya Riaz (44) and Fatima Sana (36).

This historic win marks Pakistan’s first-ever W-ODI triumph against the White Ferns, showcasing the resilience of the Nida Dar-less team. The tour has been a series of milestones for Pakistan, as they previously became the second team, after England, to secure a W-T20I series victory against New Zealand in Kiwi-land, winning 2-1.

The third One-Day match extended to a Super Over, where Pakistan, led by Aliya Riaz’s boundary and excellent running between the wickets, scored 11 runs. Spinner Sadia Iqbal defended the runs by taking two crucial wickets, securing the victory for her country.

The second One-Day match was equally thrilling, with New Zealand chasing down a target of 221 with just one wicket in hand. Pakistan’s makeshift captain, Fatima Sana, played a heroic innings, scoring 90 runs at a strike rate of 86.53, while Ghulam Fatima contributed with four wickets.
