India vs Australia: Match called off due to rain

SYDNEY: The match between Australia and India has been called off due to rain after India posted 97/1 in 9.4 overs.

India vs Australia the first T20I match was reduced to 18 overs per side after the rain delay and play will resume at 3 PM IST.

The visitors were 43/1 after 5 overs. Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav are at the crease after Abhishek Sharma was dismissed by Nathan Ellis during the first T20I encounter between India and Australia in Canberra.

Australia skipper Mitchell Marsh won the toss and opted to field. Arshdeep Singh missed out as India went with two specialist pacers – Jaspirt Bumrah and Harshit Rana – while three spinners – Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy – were included.

India suffered a major setback as Nitish Kumar Reddy was ruled out of three matches due to injury.
