India wins T20 World Cup 2026 after defeating New Zealand by a huge margin in the final match. The Indian team won the title for the third time after a dominant performance in Ahmedabad.
The final of the T20 World Cup 2026 was played in Ahmedabad. New Zealand won the toss and decided to bowl first. However, the decision did not work in their favour.
Batting first, India posted a massive total on the scoreboard. The team scored 255 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs.
Sanju Samson played an outstanding innings. He scored 89 runs from 46 balls and led the batting attack.
Abhishek Sharma also played aggressively. He made 52 runs from 21 balls. Ishan Kishan added another strong contribution with 54 runs from 25 balls.
In the final overs, the lower order added quick runs. Shivam Dube scored 28 runs from just eight balls to push the total higher.
For New Zealand, Jimmy Neesham took three wickets. Matt Henry and Rachin Ravindra picked one wicket each.
While chasing the big target, New Zealand struggled with the bat. Their batting line could not build partnerships against the strong Indian bowling attack.
The entire New Zealand team was bowled out for 159 runs in the 19th over.
Tim Seifert scored 52 runs while Mitchell Santner added 47 runs. Daryl Mitchell managed only 17 runs. No other batter reached double figures.
Jasprit Bumrah led the bowling attack for India. He took four wickets in the match. Axar Patel also impressed with three wickets.
Hardik Pandya, Varun Chakravarthy and Abhishek Sharma took one wicket each.
Jasprit Bumrah was named Player of the Match for his excellent bowling performance. Sanju Samson was declared Player of the Tournament.
