DHAKA: Left-handed Fakhar Zaman’s much-needed half-century on Saturday powered Pakistan to their series victory against Bangladesh in Dhaka.

The Men In Green won the second consecutive T20I of a three-match series, taking the series 2-0.

Earlier, Bangladesh failed to impress in their innings against a strong Pakistani bowling line-up, managing to score only 108/7 off their 20 overs.

Najmul Hossain Shanto managed to score the most runs for the Bangladesh team, 40 off 34 balls.

Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan took two wickets each to deal frequent blows to the hosts while Nawaz, Haris Rauf and Wasim pitched in with one wicket each.

Pakistan’s left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi once again rose to the occasion, striking in the first over to dismiss Bangladesh opener Saif Hassan to put the hosts on the back foot.

A few minutes later, Mohammad Wasim also dismissed left-handed Bangladeshi opener Naim, who was caught at slip.

Shadab Khan dismissed Afif Hosain in a soft dismissal when he was caught behind by Mohammad Rizwan. The Pakistani wicketkeeper was part of another dismissal when Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah edged a Haris Rauf delivery straight into his hands.

Vice-captain Shadab Khan picked up Shanto’s wicket when he leapt forward to take a brilliant catch, causing Bangladesh to lose their fifth wicket.

Pakistan lost the toss Saturday and were put in to bat by Bangladesh as the two sides get ready to lock horns in the second T20I of the three-match series.

Pakistan, already 1-0 up in the three-match T20 series against Bangladesh, will be eyeing a series victory today at the Shere Bangla Stadium in Dhaka.

Speaking after the toss, Pakistan captain Babar Azam said batsmen from both teams had struggled yesterday.

However, Azam said he was happy at the way Fakhar Zaman, Khushdil Shah, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz had pitched in with the bat to ensure Pakistan’s victory in the first T20 of the series.

Bangladesh headed into the second T20 match without making any changes. Pakistan are resting Hasan Ali and playing left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi in his place.

The rest of the visitors’ squad remains unchanged for today’s clash.

Bangladesh gave a tough time to an in-form Pakistan in the first T20 clash, despite missing the likes of Shakib ul Hasan, Tamim Iqbal and Rahim.
