Pak vs Ban: Pakistan need 437 runs to level series against Bangladesh

SYLHET: Bangladesh set a huge target of 437 runs for Pakistan in the Sylhet Test to equal the two-match series.

Bangladesh’s second innings ended at 390 runs on the third day of the match. Pakistan needed 437 runs to win due to the 46-run lead they had in the first innings.

Mushfiqur Rahim batted brilliantly for Bangladesh and scored 137 runs, while Liton Das scored 69 runs, and Mahmudul Hasan Joy scored 52 runs.

At the start of the third day, the host team resumed their innings at 110 for 3. After adding just 5 runs to the total, captain Najmul Hasan Shanto was dismissed for 15 runs.

Bangladesh’s fifth wicket fell for 238 runs when Liton Das returned to the pavilion after scoring 69 runs. After that, Mehidy Hasan Miraz was dismissed for 19 runs for a total score of 272.

The seventh wicket fell for 349 runs, where Tejul Islam scored 22 runs. Later, Taskin Ahmed was dismissed for 6 runs while Sharaful Islam returned to the pavilion with a score of 383 runs with 12 runs.

The last wicket fell for 390 runs when Mushfiqur Rahim was dismissed after playing his best innings of 137 runs.

For Pakistan, Khurram Shahzad took 4 wickets, while Sajid Khan took 3 wickets. Hasan Ali took 2 and Mohammad Abbas took one wicket.

Earlier, Pakistan’s first innings ended for 232 runs, which gave Bangladesh a lead of 46 runs.

On the first day of the match, the Bangladesh team was dismissed for 278 runs, in which Liton Das’s brilliant century of 126 runs stood out.

For Pakistan, Khurram Shahzad took 4 wickets, Mohammad Abbas took 3, Hassan Ali took 2, and Sajid Khan took one wicket.

Pakistan opened the first innings with Azan Owais and Abdullah Fazal and were 21 for no loss at the end of the first day.

It should be remembered that Bangladesh already has a 0-1 lead in the 2-Test series, as they defeated Pakistan by 104 runs in the first Test.
