Pak vs SL: Green Shirts secure six-run victory over Sri Lanka

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan beat Srilanka by six runs to secure a win in the first One Day International match.

In response to Pakistan’s target of 300 runs, the Sri Lankan team could score 293 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga scored 59 and Samarawickrama scored 39 runs.

For Pakistan, Haris Rauf bowled brilliantly and took 4 wickets. Naseem Shah and Faheem Ashraf took 2 wickets each.

Earlier, Pakistan set Sri Lanka a target of 300 runs to win the first ODI match thanks to Salman Ali Agha’s brilliant century.

Pakistan scored 299 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Salman Agha played an unbeaten innings of 105 runs.

In the first ODI match of the series being played at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to field against Pakistan.

Opening batsmen Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub started the innings for the national team. Saim Ayub returned to the pavilion on the first ball of the fourth over after scoring 6 runs.

After which, Fakhar Zaman also got out in the 18th over after scoring 32 runs off 55 balls.

The third wicket of the Green Shirts fell for 76 runs. Muhammad Rizwan returned to the pavilion after scoring 5 runs, while Babar Azam also left the team after scoring 29 runs.

In such a situation, Hussain Talat and Salman Ali Agha formed a brilliant partnership and took the team’s score to 233 runs. Hussain Talat was dismissed after scoring 62 runs.

On the other hand, Salman Ali Agha remained steadfast and scored a brilliant century. He played an unbeaten innings of 105 runs off 87 balls.

In addition, Muhammad Nawaz also batted brilliantly in the closing overs, scoring 36 runs off 23 balls and remaining not out.

Pakistan scored 299 runs for 5 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Winandu Hasaranga dismissed 3 players from Sri Lanka.
