Pakistan Champions into final after thrashing West Indies in WCL 2024 semi-final

NORTHAMPTON: Pakistan Champions booked a seat in the final of the ongoing World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2024 after thrashing West Indies Champions by 20 runs in the first semi-final, being played at the County Ground in Northampton.

After being asked to bat first, the Younis Khan-led side scored 198 runs with the loss of eight wickets. West Indies Champions, led by Daren Samm fell short of 199 runs as the team bowled out on 178 with one ball remaining. 

Chasing a target of 199 runs, West Indies champions were bowled out for 178 runs, with scoring 36, Dwayne Smith 22 and Chris Gayle 19.
In the first semi-final, Pakistan-C opener Sharjeel Khan and Shoaib Malik went back to the pavilion with a duck, while, Sohaib Maqsood managed to score only one run, after which captain Younis Khan and Kamran Akmal took the score to 89. Opener Kamran Akmal was dismissed for 46 runs.
In the big match of the tournament, Shahid Afridi 1 and Misbah-ul-Haq also returned to the pavilion without scoring any runs, while on the other hand, Younis Khan played a turn of 65 runs off 45 balls.
Aamir Yameen and Sohail Tanveer scored 40 runs and 33 runs not out from the green shirts side while Fidel Edwards got 3 and Sulaiman Ben dismissed 2 players.
In reply, the West Indian champions fell for 31 for the first wicket, Chris Gayle was caught out by Wahab Riaz on Sohail Khan’s delivery after scoring 22 runs. Chadwick Walton scored 19 runs and Dwayne Smith scored 26 runs.

Ashley Nurse scored 36 runs before getting run out by wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal. Rayad Emrit showed some determination before he got out after scoring 29 runs off nine balls. The West Indian Champions were bowled out for 178 runs in the last over.

For Men in Green,  Sohail Khan remained the top bowler clinching 4 wickets for 21 runs. Wahab Riaz and Shoaib Malik both got two wickets while other bowlers remained wicket-less.
