Pakistan reveal squad for first Test against England

ISALAMABAD: The Pakistan cricket selectors on Tuesday announced the 15-man squad for the first Test against England in Multan from October 7 to 11.

Following the announcement of the squad and based on the recommendation of head coach Jason Gillespie, selected players have been withdrawn from the Champions ODI Cup play-offs to allow them some rest ahead of the series. The squad will assemble in Multan on Monday, September 30, with the training camp starting from October 1.

Shan Masood (Captain), Saud Shakeel (Vice-Captain), Amir Jamal, Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Huraira, Mohammad Rizwan (Wicketkeeper), Naseem Shah, Nouman Ali, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha. , Sarfaraz Ahmed (wicket keeper) and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Left-arm spinner Nauman Ali, who took 47 wickets in 15 Test matches, has replaced the injured fast bowler Khurram Shahzad.

Kamran Ghulam and Muhammad Ali, who were part of the squad for the Bangladesh Test, are firmly in the selectors’ plans.

However, due to the emphasis on consistency and continuity in the selection policy, and the belief that 15 players are sufficient for a Test, he was advised to continue to represent his teams in the Champions ODI Cup and the Presidents Cup. has been encouraged.
