DUBAI: Pakistani players have made a jump in the latest ICC Men’s Test Rankings following their recent victory against West Indies in the first Test match in Multan.
Two Pakistanis, Saud Shakeel and Noman Ali, moved into the top 10 of batting and bowling rankings respectively, the International Cricket Council (ICC) released the latest ranking data.
Middle-order batter Shakeel with rating points of 753 climbed three Rankings spots to 8th on the batting list, moving above Steve Smith and Rishabh Pant.
Meanwhile, Noman Ali breaks into the top 10 after an impressive six-wicket haul in the first Test against the West Indies.
Other spinners from the last match including Sajid Khan, Abrar Ahmed, and visitor Jomel Warrican soared in the rankings after their standout performances.
Sajid Khan, who was named Player of the Match, claimed 18 places to No. 23, while mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed raised 6 places to 52nd with 406 rating points.
Jomel Warrican (521) snapped a 10-wicket haul in the same match and jumped 12 spots to No. 41 in the rankings.
“Jasprit Bumrah continues to dominate as the undisputed No. 1 bowler with a career-best points tally of 908. Australia’s Pat Cummins (841) and South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada (837) round out the top three,” the ICC wrote.
“There has been no movement to the top 10 all-rounders in the Test format, with India’s Ravindra Jadeja (400 rating points) retaining the op spot ahead of South Africa’s Marco Jansen (294) and Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan (263),” the statement concluded.
