RAWALPINDI:  Sri Lankan captain Charith Asalanka and Asitha Fernando have returned home due to ill health before the match against Pakistan.

According to the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, both players had participated in the ODI series against Pakistan but will not be able to participate in the T20 series.

The Sri Lankan board has taken this decision as a precautionary measure so that they can get proper care and time to recover before the T20 World Cup.

Now Sri Lanka will be led by Dusan Shanaka in the tri-nation T20 series, and Pawan Ratnayake has been included in the team in place of Asitha Fernando.

The tri-nation T20 series will begin today at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Pakistan and Zimbabwe will face each other in the first match today at 6 pm; the second match will be played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka on November 20.

Earlier, the trophy for the T20 tri-nation series involving Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe was unveiled.

National T20 team captain Salman Ali Agha and Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza attended the unveiling ceremony held at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

In the league stage, each team will play 4 matches, while the top 2 teams on the points table will face each other in the final on November 29.
