The ICC T20 World Cup trophy has arrived in Lahore, marking a key moment for cricket fans and women’s sports promotion in Pakistan. The visit is part of the official trophy tour linked to the ongoing international T20 series and aims to connect global cricket with local communities. The ICC T20 World Cup trophy was unveiled during a special event at a private college in Lahore, drawing students, educators, and cricket followers.
The unveiling ceremony created strong interest among young women, many of whom took photographs and selfies with the trophy. The event was designed not only as a promotional activity but also as a platform to encourage female participation in sports, particularly cricket, which continues to grow at grassroots level across Pakistan.
The ceremony featured friendly women’s cricket matches alongside the trophy display, adding practical engagement to the celebration. The Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan attended as the chief guest and spent time interacting with students and players. She also posed for photographs with the ICC T20 World Cup trophy and shared her enthusiasm for women’s cricket development.
Speaking at the event, the Australian High Commissioner said Australia views girls’ cricket as an investment in Pakistan’s future. She noted that Pakistani women have strong potential to excel in cricket just as they do in other professional fields. Her remarks were welcomed by organizers and participants, who described the visit as a positive signal for international support of women’s sports in Pakistan.
College officials said such events help inspire students and strengthen cultural and sporting ties between countries through cricket.
