Hyderabad franchise rules out star based captaincy ahead of PSL season

ISAMABAAD: The owner of the new PSL franchise Hyderabad, Fawad Sarwar, has made it clear that the leadership of the team will not be given to any player automatically on the basis of seniority or fame.

In an interview, he said that no player, be he Pakistani or foreign, is entitled to the captaincy just on the basis of being a big name or senior. We have our own selection process and the decision will be taken after full consultation.

The captain can be anyone, the main thing is good leadership. Whoever meets this standard will be given this responsibility.

He also expressed his liking for former Pakistani captain Babar Azam, calling him his favorite cricketer.

He said that if given the opportunity, he would like to include Babar Azam in his team.

It should be remembered that the Hyderabad franchise has appointed former Australian cricketer Jason Gillespie as the head coach, while Grant Bradburn and Craig White as assistant coaches.
