What prize money will be given to FIFA World Cup winners?

The FIFA World Cup 2026 has entered its final phase, with only the final match remaining. Along with this, details of the tournament’s record prize money have also been revealed by the world football organization FIFA, according to which the champion team will be given the largest prize money in history, namely 50 million US dollars, while the runner-up team will be entitled to 33 million US dollars.

48 teams participated in this global event, co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, due to which FIFA also increased the prize fund to a record level.

According to FIFA, it was announced in December 2025 that the total prize fund for the World Cup 2026 was set at 655 million US dollars, which is the largest prize package in the history of the tournament.

In the third-place match in the tournament, England defeated France 6-4 to win third place. England will receive $29 million in prize money for this achievement, while fourth-placed France will receive $27 million.

Now all eyes are on the final match, where Spain and defending champions Argentina will face off for the world title. The winning team will not only take home the World Cup trophy but will also receive a hefty prize money of $50 million, while the losing runner-up team will receive $33 million.

According to details released by FIFA, the teams of Norway, Belgium, Morocco and Switzerland that have reached the quarter-finals will be given $19 million each.

Similarly, the teams that secured ninth to sixteenth positions, which include Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, the United States, Portugal, Canada, Egypt and Paraguay, will receive $15 million each.

The teams finishing 17th to 32nd will receive $11 million, while the teams finishing 33rd to 48th will receive $9 million. In addition, FIFA has provided each participating team with an additional $1.5 million for pre-tournament preparations and administrative expenses.

It should be noted that Argentina received $42 million in prize money for winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup, while France received $38 million in prize money for winning the 2018 World Cup.
