BULAWAYO: Zimbabwe defeated Pakistan by 80 runs (DLS method) in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Queen’s Sports Club in Bulawayo.
After rain affected play, Zimbabwe batted first and set Pakistan a revised target of 206 runs. Pakistan’s chase failed as they could only score 60 runs for the loss of six wickets before the match ended under the DLS method.
Zimbabwe now lead the series 1-0, making it a tough task for Pakistan to bounce back.
For Pakistan, Abdullah Shafique and Saim Ayub scored 11 and 17 runs respectively while Kamran Ghulam scored 17 runs. Salman Ali Agha and Irfan Khan struggled, scoring only 4 and 7 runs.
The rain delay proved crucial, as Zimbabwe took advantage of the conditions and maintained control throughout the match.
