CALIFORNIA: Apple officially revealed its upcoming big event on September 9, 2025, at Apple Park headquarters in Cupertino, California, which is expected to include the announcement of the iPhone 17 series, new Apple Watches, and other devices.
The event is being closely watched to see whether the company can maintain its edge amid rising competition in artificial intelligence. Apple has delayed a major overhaul to Siri, its digital assistant, which was originally intended to bring it in line with rivals like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.
Other long-awaited AI features previously announced have not yet come, so fans can’t wait to hear an announcement on AI.
Rumours indicate Apple could launch a super-thin iPhone model, similar to the MacBook Air in looks and nomenclature. Although the new phone, which is likely to be branded as the iPhone 17 Air, might be slight on battery power or camera functionalities, the move towards a thinner shape could revive buyers’ interests. It will compete with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.
The iPhone 17 series will have a normal model, new Pro models, and the possible elimination of the Plus model as a result of poor sales. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo states that the iPhone 16 Plus only made up 5–10% of Apple’s shipments this year. Kuo also predicts Apple to end production on the Plus model this year.
Along with the iPhone, Apple is likely to release new models of the Apple Watch, potentially featuring enhanced health monitoring capabilities and closer integration of features with the iPhone’s AI features. But officially, nothing has been stated.
In Pakistan, the PTA approval process is one of the key worries for customers in as it ensures the phone can be operated legally on local networks. The PTA-approved iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to come at a premium price, considering its advanced features.
Following the trends and previous launch of iPhones, the iPhone 17 Pro Max in Pakistan may be priced from PKR 350,000 to PKR 400,000, depending on the storage option and the overall demand within the country.
