DHAKA: Elon Musk, the head of the US Department of Government Performance and owner of satellite internet service provider Starlink, has expressed his excitement about launching his satellite-based internet service Starlink in Bangladesh.

The development follows a meeting between Musk and Bangladesh’s chief advisor, Professor Muhammad Yunus, which was shared publicly on X yesterday.

Professor Yunus posted, “Great meeting with Mr. @elonmusk. We agreed to work together and hope to launch Starlink in Bangladesh soon.” Musk responded with a brief but hopeful statement: “Looking forward to it!”

A statement from the chief advisor’s press wing on Thursday confirmed that extensive discussions took place between Professor Yunus and Musk to explore potential collaborations and accelerate Starlink’s entry into the country. The discussion focused on how Starlink can significantly improve connectivity, especially for Bangladesh’s youth, rural areas, marginalized women, and remote communities.

Professor Yunus also invited Musk to visit Bangladesh for a potential Starlink launch, an invitation that Musk positively welcomed, further cementing their partnership.
