ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has streamlined the registration process of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to ensure uninterrupted and smooth business operations in Pakistan.
Software houses, call centers, freelancers, and foreign missions or embassies started registering VPNs for uninterrupted internet services.
PTA said that the VPN registration process is part of an ongoing effort, which is continuously enhanced with the support of Ministry of Information Technology (MoIT), Pakistan Software Export Board, and Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA).
So far, more than 20,000 IPs have been successfully registered, and businesses need to register their VPNs on the dedicated portal https://ipregistration.pta.gov.pk/ for seamless and secure online access. Operations can be ensured.
VPNs can now be registered through a one-window operation available on the PTA and Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) portals.
The move aims to facilitate businesses in maintaining safe online activities amid the new restrictions.
Meanwhile, petitions have been filed against the installation of firewalls and slow internet speeds, affecting the digital economy. The petition calls for a halt to the installation of the firewall, citing concerns over its potential impact on the fundamental rights of citizens.
