Instagram’s Teen Accounts feature boasts eight key components to ensure a safer and more positive online environment for users aged 13-15.
New users in this age group will automatically have private accounts, while existing users will transition within two months in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. Messaging will be restricted to approved followers and established connections, minimizing unwanted interactions.
Enhanced settings will limit exposure to sensitive content, including violence and cosmetic procedure ads. Parents will have oversight of direct messages and content consumption, providing greater control.
The platform encourages positive engagement through topics like sports, music, and art. To promote healthy habits, users receive break reminders after 60 minutes and muted notifications from 10 pm to 7 am.
