ISLAMABAD: Cloudflare, one of the largest backbones of the internet to date, suffered from an outage that took/slowed down a lot of websites and platforms around the world. This includes WordPress-based websites, which many online news outlets rely on, to social media platform X.
Website outage tracker Downdetector showed thousands of disruption reports worldwide at around 5pm Pakistan time. Our own ProPakistani website became inaccessible during the outage and several of our WordPress based tools were not working either.
Cloudflare’s service status dashboard said earlier: We are experiencing an internal service degradation within Cloudflare where services may be intermittently impacted. We are focused on restoring service. We will update as we are able to remediate. More updates to follow shortly.
Soon afterward, the internet backbone provider gave an update that read: “We are seeing services recover, but customers may continue to observe higher-than-normal error rates as we continue remediation efforts.”
This means that though websites and services have begun to gradually recover, it may still take quite some time for all of the internet to catch up to speed once again. For now, all we can do is wait as Cloudflare continues to investigate.
