ISLAMABAD: Social media users across Pakistan have been facing difficulties opening apps. Meta informed about the major maintenance activity, which starts from 1 AM on 11 December and continues until 1 PM on 12 December.
The maintenance is expected to cause service degradation across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and other Meta services. It means users may face slower performance, delayed message delivery, and intermittent disruptions throughout the period.
PTCL, an internet service provider, has informed its customers of the imminent shutdown via a notification. It stated that this could happen even when the users have proper internet access. The company added that the outage is due to scheduled technical work by Meta for better system reliability and performance.
According to experts, what is curious is that PTCL is reporting it on behalf of META.
It is also said by experts that such extended maintenance windows may dent operational continuity at businesses, especially those dependent on Meta platforms for their daily communication, marketing, and customer engagement. Small and medium enterprises may face challenges in real-time communication and service delivery during the disruption.
