CALIFORNIA: WhatsApp is making a change to its messaging platform that will make its user experience similar to Instagram. WhatsApp is making a huge update to the main tab of the app.

After this change, the statuses of contacts will be displayed directly above the main or chat tab, like an Instagram story. According to a report, this feature is being tested in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android devices.

Whenever the app is opened, users will see the statuses of 3 contacts at the top. To see more statuses, the complete list can be seen by scrolling down in the system.

It should be noted that this new update does not mean that the updates section will be eliminated. WhatsApp will maintain this tab, while the purpose of showing the statuses in the chat tab is to provide quick access to the statuses.

This feature is currently being tested and is gradually being rolled out to beta users. The new design will be further refined based on feedback from beta users and then gradually rolled out to all users sometime in the coming months.
