CM Punjab announces “Minority Card” for minority community

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has distributed minority cards among the deserving people of the minority community in Rawalpindi.

This program has been launched by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to provide financial assistance to poor non-Muslim families.

The event was held at Waiqar-e-Nisa College for Women, Rawalpindi, with Tahira Aurangzeb as the special guest. She distributed the cards among the deserving people. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema said that this program is being completed in two phases.

In the first phase, 850 cards have been distributed, while in the second phase, about 994 more cards will be given to eligible people, thus, a large number of minority families will be able to benefit from this scheme.

Furthermore, under this scheme, eligible families will be given financial assistance of Rs. 10,500 every three months, this amount will be provided through digital card or bank transfer so that families can meet their basic needs such as food, education and utility bills.

This initiative is part of the provincial government’s efforts to improve the welfare of the minority community and their standard of living.
