Election 2024: Latest number game, how PDM 2 can form government?

Following several days of uncertainty in the country’s political landscape after the election 2024, the formation of a PDM 2, PDM parties coalition answers the mostly discussed electoral question: who will become Pakistan’s next prime minister?

On Tuesday night in a presser, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P), Pakistan Muslim League, Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) and Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) announced to form a coalition government in the center and provinces.

Pakistan’s PDM parties announced their intent after a meeting was held at the residence of Chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain in which Asif Zardari, Shehbaz Sharif, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Sadiq Sanjrani participated.

Latest Election 2024 Number Game for Government Formation

As the struggle continues to achieve two-third majority in the center and provinces to form a government, political parties are forming coalitions and grabbing as many independent candidates to surpass the number game. According to the Election Commission of Pakistan’s tally, the total number of general seats won by the six coalition parties to form a PML-N-led government reaches 152.

As per ECP data, PML-N has 75 Seats while the PTI-backed independent candidate has 92 Seats with PPP standing at 54, JUI-F at 4, and MQM-P at 17 seats.

As 169 seats are required to form the government at the Centre, the coalition parties will easily achieve this required number after the addition of 60 women and 10 minority reserved seats.

In another development, Secretary Information PML-N Marriyum Aurangzeb said that PML-N Supremo Nawaz Sharif has nominated Shahbaz Sharif as the candidate for the post of Prime Minister of Pakistan, while Maryam Nawaz Sharif has been picked for Chief Minister Punjab slot.
