Islamabad welcomes season’s first rain, marks end to dry spell

ISLAMABAD: The citizens of Islamabad were pleasantly surprised on Monday morning as they welcomed winter seasons first rain in the city. Scattered showers and hailstorms were experienced in different parts of the federal capital and slightly ended a spell of depression the city had been engrossed in.

The rainfall was heavy in some sectors such as the Sher Shah Town area, where hailstorms were also heard of. Rainfall was also reported in G-6, G-7, F-7, Barah Kahu, and Murree Road, which offered relief against the depressed weather conditions.

The winter rain in Islamabad has served as a welcome resort to people who were otherwise battling the bad weather that changed into dry, awful colds that left them with fever, dry cough, and diarrhea. Cold prone usually claims various ailments among skew of people within the population, the aged and minor children who suffer the most.

Those, therefore, rain supplements a good relief for those who constitute the skew group of society. It would also add to washing away the height of soot and pollution that would have been accumulated in the city, giving way to clean and fresh air.

Weather Forecast across Pakistan 

The severe cold wave will shower over the mountain range; meanwhile, small rains are expected in some areas in Islamabad and some surrounding areas. Most areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may expect thundershowers, while in a range of mountainous areas across the country.

In some portions of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, an expectation of rainfall and snowfall is high. A brief spell of weather, making Murree, Galyat, and surrounding areas, partly cloudy, is predicted and a perfect shot for tourists to visit these attractive hill stations.

The cold weather continues to prevail over most districts in Balochistan, with several regions in the province expected to see fog. Likewise, fog is possible in Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Mangla, Jhelum, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, and Sahiwal, making it difficult for commuters to travel.

Foggy conditions are expected in Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, Jhang, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanewal, Khanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan, while foggy weather is expected in Dera Ghazi Khan and surrounding areas.
