RAWALPINDI: The verdict of the £190 million reference against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi has been postponed once again.
Rawalpindi’s accountability court confirmed Monday that the verdict would be announced on January 13, 2025.
The decision to defer the verdict was taken due to the absence of Judge Nasir Javed Rana as he was on leave today. The court staff has communicated it to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor as well as the PTI’s lawyer Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry.
“The staff has confirmed that the verdict will not be announced today,” said the lawyer.
This is the second time the announcement of the verdict has been delayed.
Initially, the verdict on the £190 million reference was set for December 23, 2024, after it was reserved on December 18. However, the said court delayed the verdict for January 6.
The said case is part of the plethora of legal challenges faced by the incarcerated PTI founder who has been behind bars since August last year after he was sentenced in Toshakhana case-I.
