ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that a strong rain system will enter Pakistan from January 21, 2026.
The weather is likely to be cold and dry in most parts of the country, with particularly cold conditions in the hilly areas. However, it will be partly cloudy in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir, with light rain/light snowfall at a few places in the evening/night.
Meanwhile, moderate to heavy fog is likely to prevail in the plain areas of Punjab, upper Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Met Office has stated that from January 21, 2026, rain, strong winds, and snowfall with thundershowers are likely in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Murree, Galiat, and Islamabad, while it is expected to be partly cloudy in the Potohar region and northeast Punjab. Light to moderate fog is likely to persist in the plains of Punjab and upper Sindh, especially during the night and morning hours.
