PMD forecasts rain, snowfall in upper parts of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Light rain along with snowfall over the mountains is expected in the upper parts of Pakistan on Friday, December 5.

The rain, though light, and snowfall will decrease the day temperatures by 01°C to 03°C in the upper parts of the country.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a shallow westerly wave prevails over the western/upper parts of Pakistan and is moving north-eastwards.

Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country, with very cold weather in hilly areas, on Thursday night.

However, partly cloudy to cloudy weather is likely in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, and northern Balochistan. Smog is likely to prevail over the plain areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while fog may develop at a few places.

On Friday, light rain with light snowfall over the mountains is expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Smog is likely to continue over the plain areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while fog may develop at a few places during morning and night hours.
