The citizens across the country had been braving scorching weather for the past many weeks and the first spell of the early monsoon this year came as a glad tiding for many.

The Meteorological Department has earlier issued a warning on Sunday regarding torrential rains to hit the country on Monday due to a weather system that entered the upper and central parts of the country.

Due to the strong weather system, heavy rains hit all major cities including Dera Ismail Khan, Khan Pur, Tank, Mailsi, Liaquatpur, and Musakhel inundating the low-lying areas and prolonged power outages added to the miseries of the residents.

Dera Ismail Khan city and its environs have been receiving intermittent torrential rains due to which the Quetta highway has been inundated, the power system is in disarray, while due to non-cooperation of the motorway police, transporters and passengers are suffering.

In addition, many trees have been uprooted and power poles have fallen in the area due to heavy downpours.

On the other hand, intermittent rains are continuing in Khanpur city and the adjoining areas and the locals have been suffering from prolonged power cuts.

Downpours are continued in Haripur as well and the rainwater has increased the inflow of water in Khanpur dam and Tarbela dam.
