Actor Vijay becomes Tamil Nadu CM, announces free electricity

TAMIL NADU: Indian actor C. Joseph Vijay has announced free electricity to domestic consumers immediately after taking oath as the Chief Minister of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

According to reports, Joseph Vijay Chandrashekhar’s party Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) has emerged as the majority party in the assembly. The new Chief Minister has also signed an order to form a special force for the protection of women in the state and to combat drug trafficking.

In his first speech at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai after taking oath, he said that a new era of a government committed to true secularism and social justice has now begun. He thanked the Congress, VCK, IUML and the Left parties for supporting his party to form the government.

Joseph Vijay specially thanked Jain Zee and said that it is because of him that TVK won because he convinced his family members to vote for this party. I do not come from a royal family, I have seen poverty and hunger up close, people made fun of me but you gave me a place in your heart, for which I am grateful. Addressing the people, he said that I am just like you and one of you, I am not an angel but a common man.
