Deepfake video of Donald Trump commenting on Pakistan & Israel-Iran conflict goes viral

WASHINGTON: A viral deepfake video of US President Donald Trump making controversial remarks about Pakistan’s military involvement in the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict has gone viral on social media.

In a viral clip, “Trump” is seen saying that Pakistan is second only to Iran and if Israel attacks Iran again, Pakistan will completely destroy Israel. However, he further says that Pakistan should not get involved in this war as it is an issue between Israel and Iran and peace is needed in the region.

But the fact is that this video has been created by AI and is not original. Fact-checking websites such as Vishwas News have confirmed that this video is a deepfake, in which an original video from 2016 has been modified and created. In the original video, Trump was talking about economic development, not geopolitical issues.

The background to this video is the recent escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, where, according to Al Jazeera, there have been missile attacks between the two countries. The video attempts to use a realistic political environment to lend credibility to a fake narrative, which can influence public opinion or political discourse.

According to the Reuters Institute, the misinformation generated by AI is increasingly being disseminated, especially in the context of elections, where it can mimic real people. This case highlights the need for media literacy and robust fact-checking.

Therefore, it is important to verify such videos before sharing them to avoid misunderstandings.
