DUBAI: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has declared December 2 and 3 as public holidays on the occasion of Unity Day (National Day).
According to details, preparations for the 54th National Day of the UAE on December 2 this year are in full swing, this day commemorates the unification and establishment of the country’s 7 emirates.
The government has announced that Tuesday and Wednesday, December 2 and 3, will be public holidays, but due to the weekend, there is a strong possibility that the public will get a four-day long weekend. Under the country’s laws, these four-day holidays can be extended to five days.
This year’s celebrations will begin with a grand ceremony in which the Emirati leadership will participate. Although the venue has not been officially announced yet, the ceremony will be held on December 2 at an important cultural and national venue.
Director of Strategic and Creative Affairs, Issa Al-Subousi, said that starting the Unity Day celebrations with “Union Pledge Day” is a symbol of unity and mutual cooperation.
Last year, the Unity Day celebrations were held in Jubail Hafeet, Al Ain, which beautifully showcased the Emirate’s traditions, culture and vision for the future. The event will be followed by celebrations at various locations such as Global Village, Festival Promenade, Hatta, Outlet Village Mall and Qurani Park.
The event organisers have invited all people living in the Emirate, whether citizens or expatriates, to prepare to be part of this year’s memorable celebration.
