Moon of Ramadan ul Mubarak sighted in Saudi Arabia

ISLAMABAD: The moon of Ramadan ul Mubarak has been sighted in Saudi Arabia on Friday and the first fast will be observed on Saturday (April 2).

Meanwhile, the Pakistan meteorological department has predicted that moon of Ramadan ul Mubarak might be sighted in Pakistan tomorrow (Saturday).

“There are chances of sighting of Ramadan moon tomorrow in the country. If it happens, then first Ramadan will fall on April 3 (Sunday),” said the meteorological department adding that Sha’ban (the ongoing month) will have 29 days this year.

The Central Ruet e Hilal Committee meeting will be held in Peshawar, while a zonal committee will hold its meeting at the Met Dept in Karachi. The zonal committee meeting in Karachi will be presided over by Maulana Muhammed Salfi.

The meteorological department said sunset in Karachi will take place at 6:49 pm on April 2 and moon will remain on the horizon till 7:57 pm. Age of the moon at the sunset tomorrow will be 31 hours and 48 minutes, it added.

On March 20, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had announced a historical Ramadan Package worth Rs8 billion to provide relief to people of the province during the holy month.

Usman Buzdar had said essential commodities would be available to the people in Ramadan markets at the prices of 2021. A 10 kg bag of wheat flour would be available for Rs375, he had said.

“At agricultural fair price shops, 13 items including potatoes, onions and tomatoes will be available at prices less than the regular market. Rs1.25 billion subsidy will be given to sell vegetables, fruits and lentils at cheap rates in the Ramadan markets,” he had said adding that 317 Ramadan bazaars would be functional from Sha’aban 25 across the province.
