PYONGYANG: North Korea has successfully tested a new powerful rocket engine for a modern missile capable of hitting the US mainland. On this occasion, the country’s leader Kim Jong-un personally witnessed the test.

According to state media, this ground test is a major breakthrough in North Korea’s weapons program, and the technology can be used in the development of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs).

According to experts, solid-fuel engines give the missile the ability to launch in a short time, which significantly increases the speed and effectiveness of attacks. The new engine produced thrust of about 2,500 kilonewtons, which is higher than previous tests.

According to reports, North Korea is also working on a missile system that is capable of hitting multiple targets at the same time.

The official statement said that the test is part of the country’s new five-year defense plan, while according to Kim Jong-un, North Korea’s defense capabilities have entered a key stage at the strategic level.

Experts say this development could further increase security concerns globally.
