Powerful 6.7-mangitude quake strikes Papua, no Tsunami threat

JAKARTA: A 6.7-magnitude earthquake has struck the Indonesian province of Papua.

According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the depth of the earthquake was 70 km, while its epicenter was about 200 km from the city of Abepura.

Abepura has a population of more than 62,000. After the earthquake, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said that there was no threat of a tsunami as a result of the earthquake.

No reports of casualties or property damage have been received so far, but local authorities are assessing the situation.
