Private jet crashes during takeoff at Maine Airport, eight on board

MAINE: A private passenger plane crashed during takeoff from Bangor International Airport in the US state of Maine.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the accident occurred at approximately 7:45 pm on January 25, with eight people on board.

The FAA said that the plane that crashed was a Bombardier Challenger 600 that crashed during takeoff.

The incident is being investigated jointly by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), while Maine State Police are also assisting local authorities.

Bangor International Airport confirmed in a statement on social media that an incident had occurred at the airport, which is under investigation, while rescue agencies are on the scene and assessing the situation. After the accident, the runway was closed and the public was instructed not to head towards the airport.

According to Reuters, a government official said that a large fire broke out in the plane after the accident. Authorities say that the plane arrived in Maine after flying from Texas and crashed while preparing to take off again.

Meanwhile, aviation tracking website Flight Radar 24 also confirmed the accident, saying that according to the data, the plane was taking off again after arriving in Bangor from Houston.

Bangor International Airport is a combined civil and military public airport located about 129 miles northeast of Portland and has a single runway.
